Wouldn’t it be great if you could just come into the garden in spring, and just start planting right away? After all who wants to spend days, preparing the ground by digging the soil and seeing all the nice nutrients being washed away? You would as a bonus have very little hard work to do, and it would really help your soil too. All it requires is some forward planing. If you start this at the end of July, then planting in spring becomes real easy. It is possible to do this in Autumn as well if there isn’t to many weeds to start with.
So here is how:
Just use mulches cardboard/ leafs/ grass clippings/ straw even compost or farmyard manure can be used as mulches.
All you need to do is place a soaked sheet of cardboard or more were you want your bed to be, ad some mulch and there you are. Three month later and it’s planting time. Your soil will be happy because it will get lots of food, when the organic mater decomposes.
It is best if your cardboard is completely brown then it has no toxins in it, avoid ones that have things printed on them. There can be problems with slugs so watch out, they lay their eggs under mulches because of the moisture. Just ad some seaweed that stops it for some time, as it is full of salt. The seaweed is also great for it feeds the soil with many micro minerals that are vital to plant growth.
